I'm Kayla Tang, and I graduated from Cal Poly Pomona in 2024. While there, I served as president of the ACM chapter, Computer Science Society, and helped organize events like MiniHack, the BronCoding HackerRank Competition, Avanade's AI for a Better Future hackathon, and BroncoHacks.
Initially, my family discouraged me from attending college, but I was determined to study computer science. The first two years of college were challenging due to people close to me telling me to drop out. Still, I found support through student-led communities and also earned over $45,000 in scholarships. I'm proud of how far I've come, and I'll always support other first-generation college students
Outside of work, you can find me hanging out with my cat, starting a new art project, or making a matcha latte. I also have a soft spot for volunteering; I've helped run events at the Kidspace Children's Museum, prepared new arrivals at my local library, and worked with middle school students on their first coding projects.
Thanks for checking out my page. If you have any questions or just want to share your thoughts on my projects, whether you liked them or not, feel free to reach me by email or LinkedIn.
